Lucy May Constantini (Open University) has drafted a book chapter from a presentation she gave at the November 2019 Haṭha Yoga Project workshop on Indian Physical Disciplines at SOAS, and it passed peer review earlier this year. It's entitled "Firm Feet and Inner Wind: introducing posture in the South Indian martial art, kaḷarippayaṟṟ˘ " and is due to be published later this year online and open access via the Journal of Yoga Studies, with a print edition coming out from the Ecole française d'Extrême-Orient (Pondicherry).
She is convening the SOAS Centre of Yoga Studies Summer School (online) this year, bringing together 12 scholars of yoga studies and an international cohort of students.
She has also been invited to take part in a workshop (online) via the University of Bergen entitled "Practices of Embodied Reception: Adoptions and Adaptations of South Asian Spiritualities through Performance" in September 2021, the contributions to which are to be published in an edited volume. Lucy will be examining the imbrications between kaḷarippayaṟṟ˘’s home context of the kaḷari-temple and the fertile ground of the Indian contemporary dance scene, as well as disseminations from these into globalised yoga-related practices.
