Congratulations to Harriet McKinley-Smith who has been made a trustee of the Pope's Grotto Preservation Trust.
The grotto was created in 1720 by Alexander Pope in the gardens of his house in Twickenham and recently underwent a restoration project to conserve it, overseen by the Pope's Grotto Preservation Trust.

Harriet notes:
I became involved with Pope's Grotto Preservation Trust as a volunteer during my undergraduate degree in 2017 as I was interested in cultural heritage and literary history. Recently I was asked to become a trustee.
My position is is incredibly rewarding. I work with a dedicated team to maintain and promote this unique site, engaging with the local community and visitors to bring Pope’s legacy to life. This role has also helped me develop new skills in heritage management and public engagement, complementing my academic studies in eighteenth-century literature.
