Imad Ahmed wins Cambridge Vice-Chancellor's Early Career Researcher Award

Congratulations to Imad Ahmed!

We are delighted to share that Imad Ahmed has been awarded the University of Cambridge Vice-Chancellor's Early Career Researcher Award for Research and Engagement.

The award recognises outstanding public engagement with research, celebrating early career researchers whose work creates meaningful impact beyond the academy. Imad's work focuses on research with Muslim communities and public understanding of the Islamic lunar calendar, bringing academic scholarship into dialogue with heritage organisations, community leaders and wider audiences.

In response to receiving the award Imad said:

"I’m honoured to have won the award, and am pleased to see how seriously our University thinks about its research impact. I would like to thank Cambridge University for all the support that I have been offered, and I would also like to thank the AHRC OOC DTP for their kindness and support throughout the period of my PhD. I believe these initiatives showcase the very best of how academic researchers can work together with heritage organisations and community leaders to create cutting-edge and culturally relevant education and outreach programmes - something which has always been encouraged and celebrated by the OOC DTP."

The whole OOC DTP team would like to share the following message:

It has been a privilege to support Imad's work throughout his PhD, and we couldn't be prouder to see his research and public engagement celebrated at this level. This is an outstanding achievement, and one that reflects not only his intellectual generosity and commitment to community collaboration, but also the warmth and thoughtfulness he brings to out academic community.

As Imad focuses on completing his thesis, we wish him every success in the months ahead. We very much look forward to celebrating many more achievements to come.
