This session has been designed by OOC DTP, London Arts and Humanities Partnership and Consortium for the Humanities & Consortium for the Humanities and the Arts South-East England to provide students with a practical guide to preparing and submitting an abstract to an academic journal, from an editor’s perspective. With contributions from Dr Marquard Smith (Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Visual Culture) and Dr Tom Six (Editor, Studies in Theatre and Performance) you will learn how to select a journal (considering scope, readership, timescale), how to compose an effective abstract, what’s involved in the peer review process, how to understand editorial and journal expectations, how to navigate submission processes and timeframes, and respond to editorial feedback. The session is designed for students at any stage of their doctoral journey who are interested in publishing their research in an academic journal.
