Mahsa Bagheri is an Urban Planner and Designer with 10+ years in planning, design, and research, focusing on the intersection of cities, memory, trauma studies, and digital spaces.
She worked as a Chief Urban Designer, leading sustainable urban plans and as an instructor at a university (+6 years). She is a member of the American Planning Association (APA).
Her master’s thesis on “places of memory” in a heritage site motivates her to pursue a PhD program in “urban trauma recovery” and resilience places. The former focuses on how renovated places miss memories, histories, and culture, resulting in them losing their role in urban life; the latter explores how severe changes in cities can “shock” people. More specifically, her doctoral research contributes to preventing “traumatic” urban alterations. However, this introduces effective solutions if such interventions happen.
Finally, she is interested in bridging research and practice to create inclusive, adaptive, and livable cities.
