Grace Whorrall-Campbell is a PhD student at the University of Cambridge. She is interested in the histories of gender, emotion and space. She completed her thesis on ‘Gender, emotional labour and emotion management in British chain stores, c.1920-1950' at the University of Cambridge, 2018-2019, supported by an AHRC DTP studentship. Her doctoral research explores the affective dimension of the twentieth-century British workplace, asking how the increased emphasis on productivity, professionalism and efficiency at work impacted workers’ expression and management of their emotions.
