Josef is a DPhil candidate at the Faculty of Law. His research, supervised by Professor Pavlos Eleftheriadis, is situated in the Philosophy of the European Union. More specifically, his doctoral project examines the 'Authority of the European Union', combining European constitutional law and political theory in order to contribute to a better understanding of the nature of the EU.
Josef graduated from the University of Passau (First Legal State Examination, 2015). He holds a Magister Juris from the University of Oxford (MJur, 2016), where he was awarded the Herbert Hart Prize for Jurisprudence and Political Theory. Before coming back to Oxford, he took the German Bar Exam (Second Legal State Examination, Regional Court Regensburg) and clerked at the European Court of Justice (AG Kokott) as well as at the Supreme Court of Israel (President Hayut).
