My research project will aim at creating a detailed analysis of the linguistic patterns and features used in the language of Bioinformatics, in both French and English, and, from this analysis, developing digital resources using Artificial Intelligence to support and facilitate scientific translation in this field.
This project aspires to build bridges between the fields of Applied Linguistics, Translation Studies, Machine Translation and Bioinformatics, thereby providing valuable contribution to each of these fields of research. Knowledge and expertise from other areas of research, such as Natural Language Processing, Corpus Linguistics and Contrastive Linguistics, will also be examined through the lens of this collaborative approach.
This research project is in partnership with the European Molecular Biology Laboratory - European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) and is supervised by Dr Andrew Gargett.
