Kristian Dekatris is a historian of 20th century US intellectual and cultural history. He is currently in the first year of a PhD in history at the University of Cambridge, co-funded by an Open-Oxford-Cambridge AHRC DTP award and the Sidney Sussex College David Gledhill Studentship. He has previously completed a BA in History, as well as an MA in Modern History, both at the University of York. His MA dissertation, ‘Redefining American Exceptionalism in Nixon-era Comic Books’ won the Daniel Pinfold prize for the best Modern History dissertation. His doctoral work, under the supervision of Professor Gary Gerstle, is a continuation of his earlier work, mapping expressions of American exceptionalism in 20th century American popular culture.
