Faculty of Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies
I'm a part-time PhD student in the Languages and Applied Linguistics (LAL) department in the faculty of Wellbeing, Education and language Studies at the OU. I'm researching academic writing and writer development, specifically in the context of international students in UK universities who have developed their 'craft' as academic writers over time. The title of my research is 'Reconsidering academic writing as craft', and my supervisors are Julia Molinari and Maria Leedham. I have been working for many years as a university lecturer within the field of English for academic purposes at a number of universities in the UK and in Italy, specialising in in-sessional language provision and scholarship of teaching and learning in HE settings. I have a background in modern languages, with an undergraduate degree from Bristol in Spanish and Catalan and a diploma in Italian to English translation from the Institute of Linguists. I have an MSc in Teaching English language in university settings from Oxford.
