I’m an archaeologist with a specialisation in the Etruscans and archaic Roman period- but given these don’t exist in Britain, I’m a Roman specialist. My doctoral research, born partially out of frustration and partially out of a desire to never hear the phrase ‘it’s ritual’ again, will focus on wheel symbology in Iron Age and Roman religion across Europe. The goal is to challenge how we as archaeologists and classicists interpret religious symbols through archaeology, textual, and epigraphic evidence. It’s going to be a ‘wheely’ good time.
In my day job, I’m the archaeology curator and collections conservator at the Milton Keynes Museum. Between safeguarding the repository for all archaeological material excavated in Milton Keynes, installing a permanent archaeology gallery, and conserving anything Jurassic through to the Victorians, I’ve decided to come back to academia (part-time)!
I received a BA cum laude in Classical & Near Eastern Archaeology, and Classical Languages (Greek and Latin) from Bryn Mawr College and an MA with merit in Conservation of Museum and Archaeological Objects from Durham University.
