I am a PhD student in English at Emmanuel College Cambridge, supervised by Dr Zoë Svendsen. My research examines how plastic is shaping the production of cultural narratives about climate change, pollution and multi-species survival, focusing on contemporary environmental fiction and multimedia performance. I explore how plastic is being used by creative practitioners to address climate change and pollution, and how plastic can help us recognise the progressive, accelerating, enmeshment of humans, nonhumans, and synthetic materials. I am interested in plastic’s potential to shape, and cultivate, an ecological consciousness. I received my MPhil in English Studies from Emmanuel College Cambridge in 2025, and graduated with a first-class MA (Hons) in English Literature from the University of Edinburgh in 2024. My PhD is jointly funded by the AHRC DTP and Emmanuel College.
