OOC DTP Students Library Cards

OOC DTP students are entitled to apply for library access at Oxford and Cambridge universities as visiting students. There are two deadlines a year to apply for your card(s).

During the academic year of 2025/26, the deadlines are Friday 24th October 2025 or Friday 23rd January 2026. Please email enquiries@oocdtp.ac.uk with the following information by either of these deadlines.

When you apply for Oxford Libraries BOD Card:

Please email the following information to enquiries@oocdtp.ac.uk by the deadlines above:

1) Full name

2) Email address

3) Institution

What you can access at Oxford Libraries:

With a Bodleian Reader’s card, students from Cambridge and the OU are welcome to visit the Bodleian in-person and access resources on-site. You can read any books from the open-shelves, or request items from offsite storage to be delivered to a Self-Collect point. Bod card holders get reference-only access, so no books may be borrowed and taken out of the library, only consulted within the buildings.

You can also access special collections if you have a specific research need. Readers don’t automatically receive access to special collections; therefore, you should get in touch with the special collections team to arrange to look at items from those collections.

To access e-resources, you must be on-site and connected to the Bodleian Libraries Wi-Fi network on your own laptop or signed in to a PC in one of the libraries.

More information about access and what’s available to Bodleian Reader card holders can be found here: https://www.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/join-the-libraries/reader-cardholders-guide-using-libraries#collapse2815506

What happens after you apply for your Oxford Libraries BOD Card:

After the deadline, your details are sent to the relevant team at University of Oxford, and within days you will get an email with a link to fill a form.

Once you filled up that form, you could access Oxford Libraries online (but not e-resources), even if you have not received a hard copy of your card yet.

Your card will be sent to the DTP, where we would send it either:

  • to your college, if you are a University of Oxford student

  • to Cambridge AHRC Team, if you are a University of Cambridge student

  • to your home address, if you are an Open University student. All cards are sent first class and tracked.

When you apply for Cambridge Libraries Blue Card

Please email the following information to enquiries@oocdtp.ac.uk by the deadlines above:

1) First Name(s)

2) Last Name(s)

3) Date of Birth

4) Start and end date of your studies

5) A passport style head & shoulders digital photo 280 pixels wide by 336 pixels tall (correct sizing is important!) Please ensure that your portrait is taken in front of a (preferably white) plain background, and that you are not wearing any accessories (glasses, fashion scarves, hats, etc.), and looking straight into the camera.

What you can access at Cambridge Libraries

The Cambridge blue card would provide access to University Library facilities, including access to online resources:

As a blue card holder, students may also use The Language Centre’s on-site facilities by showing their card at the reception or use the Language Centre’s John Trim Centre with their Raven credentials.

Please note that the services available using the University Card (such as door access) are determined on a site-by-site basis, e.g. by the local Building Manager, or College office. If you need access to a College Library, you will need to request it from local staff members.

Blue cards are used for temporary staff, students, and visitors where access to buildings is required. This card cannot be used for discounts.

It is also important to note that there is no Cambridge email account set up for students and Raven credentials are to be used to log in to online resources only.

Please note that all cards issued by the University remain the property of the University of Cambridge and need to be returned.

What happens after you apply for your Cambridge Libraries Card:

After the deadlines, your details and photo are sent to Cambridge AHRC Team. They will work closely with another team to check the photo you submitted meets the required format. If it is not, we will send you an email to let you know your photo was rejected and you will need to provide a new one.

If all is well, your card will be produced and:

  • you can pick it from the Cambridge AHRC Team Office, if you are a University of Cambridge student

  • it will be sent to us, where we would send it either:

  • to your college, if you are a University of Oxford student

  • to your home address, if you are an Open University student. All cards are sent first class and tracked.
